March 19, 2020 – Friends House has organized a task force consisting of staff and residents to implement the instructions from the California Department of Public Health, the Dept. of Social Services, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and the Centers for Disease Control.
At this time, we are instructed to restrict visitors to enter our Skilled Nursing and Assisted Living facilities, except in end-of-life situations. Visitors to residents in independent Living are strongly discouraged, and restricted if symptomatic of respiratory illness or fever. If one must visit an Independent Living resident, a six-foot-distance rule is in effect and all visitors must check in at the lobby for screening. If you do not pass the screening requirements, you will not be permitted to enter the facility.
Independent Living residents are encouraged to stay home and to avoid crowds and public places. Meals for IL residents are being provided in our café and are available for pick-up and delivery. Shopping for groceries, prescriptions and other essentials will be handled by staff and delivered.
All outings are canceled on the Friends House bus except for doctor’s appointments. Residents are encouraged to keep a safe, six-foot-distance from each other, especially when holding small gatherings and in common areas. It is recommended that gatherings of no more than 10 residents take place so adequate physical distancing can be maintained.
We appreciate your cooperation and understanding during this time. Thank you and stay safe and healthy.
In the meantime, the County of Sonoma has a wealth of information and resources for those aged 60 and older and vulnerable populations at its website here.
